RED Communications asked Broccoli to create and implement a campaign to sample Peruvian Hass Avocados in order to raise awareness of the product, communicate its health benefits, give tips on how to use the fruit and encourage consumers to try it during the peak season of June and July.

Broccoli devised a plan to sample whole avocados at high footfall locations in Central London and Leeds city centre. Promotional teams of two were deployed and using branded trolleys, distributed 15,000 whole avocados over the three-day campaign.

The avocados were packed in a brown paper bag designed to aid ripening and containing a booklet with tips, recipes and a chance to enter a competition. The friendly face of Avocado Man also helped our teams engage with the public!

As well as planning the campaign and selecting and briefing the promotional teams, Broccoli managed all logistical aspects of packing and distributing the avocados to the field teams as well as liaising with local authorities to gain permission to sample on the streets.

Samples were loved by the public and the health benefits together with preparation tips went down particularly well around lunch hour and with parents.
